Twin Galaxies Tournament Settings for Original and Emulated Arcade Games ------------------------------------------------------------------------ N/A = Not Applicable Difficulty Settings last updated on ***June 20th, 2004*** Emulation for specific games are available where indicated and will use settings identical to the original arcade games, barring a few exceptional cases shown below. This list was originated by Walter Day and has been maintained and augmented by Mark Longridge Over time harder settings with more limited bonuses have evolved. For the sake of completeness we will continue to track the original settings along with the harder tournament settings. General issues: Warping is permitted in all cases except for games where the ability to warp to higher screens is effected by previous games. Scores for MAME must be set on MAME and _not_ the arcade machine Scores for Arcade machines must be set on the original machine and _not_ emulators Every game is a 1 credit game, no continues Always use player 1 [Note: Due to the unique property of Galaga showing 8 digits for the 2nd player, it is permitted to use the 2nd player for Galaga submissions] Differences between Arcade games and Emulated games: Generally the settings for arcade games and emulated games are the same, however there are a few differences. In a tournament environment arcade machines are generally powered on and played many times. Thus the state of the arcade machine is not exactly the same as emulated machine and that is why we track MAME scores separate from arcade scores. Sometimes this difference will effect scoring, e.g. Hyper Sports. The state of the machine issue is also significant for Crystal Castles since the warp to level 2 is not possible in a one credit game. Also the record for Super Punchout as reported by TG and the Guinness Book of Records can _not_ be compared to the scores set on the emulated platform. There was a specific rule that scores were tabulated on the completion of the 5th fight and no further points were allowed.
